Rehabilitation Services
Van Diest Medical Center, partnering with 21st Century Rehab, offers high quality therapy services, following the “Work well. Play well. Live well.” philosophy. The Rehabilitation Services Department promotes and advocates healthier lifestyles and wellness choices for all generations.
The department works with home health, inpatients and outpatients of all ages, treating a variety of diagnoses with individualized, patient-centered care. They offer comprehensive physical, occupational, speech, vestibular, and hand therapy services, using the latest techniques and equipment. From hospital to home, and back to full activity, the Rehabilitation Services staff works with patients to help them maximize function and return to independence.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy treatment focuses on alleviating pain and restoring mobility after injury or illness.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy treatment focuses on restoring independence with self-care and also specializes in hand/wrist rehabilitation.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy assists patients who may have swallowing or speech disorders such as those that arise after a stroke.
Vestibular Therapy
Vestibular therapy treats the inner ear, improving or resolving dizziness and balance problems.
Certified Lymphedema Therapy
The Rehabilitation Services Department also has Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLTs) on staff.
Department Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
*Other times may be scheduled by special appointment.
This department is affiliated with Des Moines University and Clark College, providing clinical internships for therapy students.
