Inpatient
The Inpatient Department at Van Diest Medical Center is staffed with Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing Assistants 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The staff provides individualized care for patients of all ages. Skilled care for continued therapy is also provided. Medical/Surgical staff are certified in CPR, ACLS and telemetry. Electronic charting is provided with a computer in every patient room for members of the health care team. The large private patient rooms feature flat screen TVs and DVD players; Wi-Fi access is also available. A patient lift system is present in every room.
Multidisciplinary Rounding
The Healthcare Team at VDMC conducts Multidisciplinary Bedside Rounding each day on the Inpatient Floor. This allows the team of providers, along with the patient, to identify goals and discuss the patient's plan of care and discharge process. We encourage both patient and family involvement in the daily rounding session. This time is also a great opportunity for patients and families to ask questions about the plan of care.
VDMC Comfort Menu
At VDMC, we understand that our patients not only have physical needs when visiting the hospital, but also emotional and social needs that are often magnified in the hospital setting. That is why our Bedside Volunteers are equipped with a Comfort Menu specifically designed with items including crossword puzzles, games, books, music, movies, aromatherapy and many other comfort-geared items. This comfort toolkit gives us the opportunity to meet the emotional and social needs of our patients.
