VDMC receives five-star rating from CMS
WEBSTER CITY, IA │ Van Diest Medical Center (VDMC) in Webster City is one of just seven Iowa hospitals to receive five stars from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) for 2024, according to information released from Becker’s Hospital Review.
Nationwide, 381 hospitals received the five-star rating, based on 46 hospital quality measures, which are divided into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care. According to Becker’s Review, compared to 2023, CMS awarded 102 fewer hospitals its five-star quality rating in 2024.
“I am very proud to be a part of such a caring and skilled team; this recognition is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and exceptional care. We are committed to providing the highest quality care to patients and are dedicated to improving the quality of life for families and communities throughout central Iowa,” said Lisa Ridge, VDMC Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to VDMC, Iowa hospitals awarded the 2024 five-star rating included VA Central Iowa Healthcare System, Des Moines; Iowa City VA Medical Center; MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center; Spencer Municipal Hospital; Finley Hospital, Dubuque; and Myrtue Medical Center, Harlan.
