The Van Diest Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded two $1,000.00 scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in the area of healthcare.  The 2020 Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Winners include:  Hannah Doolittle, a 2020 graduate of Webster City High School, pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at Iowa State University; and Makena Keller, a 2020 graduate of South Hamilton High School pursuing a Pre-Dentistry (Orthodontist) degree from Des Moines Area Community College.        

The Van Diest Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary was organized in August, 1972.  The first scholarship of $250.00 was awarded in 1977 with a total of 141 scholarships given since that time.  Funds to support the scholarships come from proceeds received through gift shop sales, no-bake bake sales, several fundraising events and other projects hosted by the Auxiliary throughout the year.
