Emergency Medical Services

Our Department

The Emergency Medical Services Department at Van Diest Medical Center provides Advanced Life Support for Webster City and surrounding areas with Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians.

The department is staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week with two on-duty crew members and two crew members on call. Along with responding to emergencies, they also transfer ill and injured patients to higher level care facilities, provide support staff for the emergency department, support local and area first aid and EMS training efforts, help educate preventive lifestyles for safer and healthier lives, work with local and area fire and law enforcement agencies during emergency calls, and help within the hospital with patient transport to and from ancillary departments.

VDMC EMS staff is highly trained in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

State-of-the-art equipment is another EMS Department asset. Three fully equipped and staffed paramedic level advanced life support ambulances are ready to respond at a moment’s notice. We've also implemented multi-lead cardiac monitors, capnometry for monitoring the amount of CO2 within a patient's bloodstream, and transmit 12-lead EKGs from the scene to the Emergency Department with wireless technology.

The Emergency Medical Services Department is licensed with the Iowa Department of Health and the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic Level Service.

If you have an emergency and need ambulance transport to the hospital, please call 911.
