Financial Assistance Program

Van Diest Medical Center understands that paying for emergency and/or medically necessary medical care can be difficult. As part of our ongoing commitment to our patients, Van Diest Medical Center works hard to help our patients address their financial responsibilities in a way that is fair and sensitive to their circumstances. We have instituted a program designed specifically to help those who find themselves in financial distress.

Eligibility for the program will be determined by the family's income and number of family members. Uninsured and underinsured persons are welcome to apply for Financial Assistance. Eligibility for and the amount of benefit, if any, are determined based on a sliding income scale.

Persons unable to pay for their medical expenses may qualify for Van Diest Medical Center’s Financial Assistance Program. For more information, please visit the Financial Counselor located within the Business Office or call the Patient Account department at 515-832-7715.

Hospital Charges & Transparency

At Van Diest Medical Center, we're committed to providing you with the highest quality of care at the lowest cost.

As part of our ongoing mission, we provide financial assistance to those in need and work to be transparent with the community by providing cost estimates and pricing information.

Many insurance providers can offer individualized estimates of your out-of-pocket costs given your health plan design. Your insurance provider may also have information to compare healthcare providers on quality measures.

To get information on cost for the services you have scheduled, please contact the Financial Counselor at 515-832-7716 for assistance with this information based on your individual insurance coverage.

Please keep in mind the information provided is only an estimate of charges and does not represent payments or individual patient responsibility. Van Diest Medical Center’s charges are the same for all patients, but your responsibility will vary depending on your health insurance plan. This information may not include charges for anesthesia, drugs or supplies. Fees for doctor services or anesthesia administration are also not reflected and will be billed separately by your doctor.

Uninsured or underinsured patients should consult with the Financial Counselor to determine whether they qualify for discounts.
