The Patient Access/Scheduler is responsible for telecommunications from within and outside of the clinic, performs receptionist duties in directing patients, visitors and others to the appropriate areas. Responsible for obtaining and entering all demographic and insurance information from patients prior to their service. Responsible for entering correct information into the scheduling software. Responsible for verifying insurance and gathering correct preauth information. Responsible for obtaining and communicating pre-service payment information (co-pay, co-insurance, deductibles) to Patient Access staff before service is rendered. Refers noninsured patients to the financial counselor to set up payment arrangements prior to services.
.9 FTE - 36 hours per week, between the hours of 7:00am-5:00pm. Will likely be 4 eight hour shifts and 1 four hour shift per week.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to speak, hear and understand the English language. Must be able to display strong customer service skills and ability to maintain a high level of alertness. Will pass the Certified Patient Account Tech (CPAT) exam within 18 months of hire.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years computerized data entry experience required. Reception or clerical experience at a healthcare setting is preferred. Knowledge of health insurance regulations and requirements is preferred. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel, e-mail, and internet/web searches is preferred. 35 wpm typing speed is preferred. Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and public is required.
