Job Details

A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who has demonstrated interest/expertise in the perioperative field.  Effectively delivers perioperative care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.

This nurse will be involved in the entire process of same-day surgery - assisting with admission, OR circulation, assisting with surgical procedures, recovery and the discharge process. 

Work M-F day shifts with no call, learning new skills and utilizing a variety of skills during the day. You will work with a diverse team of specialists in the field of general surgery, orthopedics, pediatric dentristy, opthamology, GI and endoscopy, and pain management procedures. We support AORN certification.

Hospital nursing (Med/Surg, ED, etc) experience is preferred. On-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.  Licensed to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.

  • Hospital Nursing experience or recent perioperative experience preferred. Nurses without this experience must complete a surgical competency-based orientation program successfully.

  • Must be certified in BLS and ACLS, and become CNOR certified after 2 years of surgical experience.

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.

  • Where appropriate, must be able to assess the treatment and care for specific patient populations (i.e., neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics).  Should possess the ability to understand and react effectively to their unique needs.
