The main purpose of a Radiologic Technologist I is to produce the best quality radiographs on a patient of any age, in a very caring and timely manner. <ul> <li>Performs CT scanning independently.</li> <li>Performs venipuncture for CT procedures independently and safely operates a power injector for CT procedures.</li> <li>Performs radiologic procedures independently.</li> <li>Operates DR for processing x-ray images independently</li> <li>Operates all radiation emitting x-ray equipment independently (general rad room, portable x-ray machine, digital fluoroscopy room, mobile C-Arm) utilizing appropriate technique factors based on the patient’s age, size, and body habitus.</li> <li>Operates independently in a sterile surgical environment utilizing the mobile C-Arm and/or portable x-ray machine.</li> <li>Completes all required competencies in the time allowed.</li> <li>Answers telephone calls and utilizes the phone system and all computer and software systems proficiently.</li> <li>Always follows the necessary patient identification procedures to ensure the “correct patient, correct procedure, correct date” is ensured.</li> <li>Follows all radiation protection procedures per policy.</li> <li>Must be able to communicate to patients in written and verbal form in order to properly explain procedures as well as gather pertinent information prior to performing certain procedures.</li> <li>Shares responsibility for completing various QC and other departmental tasks with other staff technologists</li> <li>Shares “on-call” time with other staff technologists.</li> <li>Supervises radiography students in the performance of departmental functions.</li> </ul> Wage commensurate with experience. The Dishwasher works in the cafeteria assisting customers. This position communicates with the nursing staff and patients on a regular basis. This job description and performance standards cover the most significant duties performed, but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned. <ul> <li>Completes all required competencies within allowed time frame.</li> <li>Follows all infection control, safety, and general hospital policies, including VDMC Standards of Behavior.</li> <li>Accurately operates cash register.</li> <li>Performs clean-up tasks including patient trays and eating utensils, pots and pans and food preparation utensils and task related to clean-up of own work area, kitchen, storeroom, and dining room.</li> <li>Performs food serving tasks and tray assembly for patients according to Physicians ordered diet.</li> <li>Assists FSM and other staff members as necessary in the function of the department.</li> <li>Checks in and puts away groceries and supplies according to correct procedures.</li> <li>Participate in quality improvement and assurance activities, data collection and documentation.</li> <li>Cleans and assembles soda machine. Stocks all supplies. Keeps equipment and appearance of serving area and Dining room clean and neat.</li> <li>Maintains level of skill required by job description related to education, experience, tools and equipment.</li> </ul> Hours vary. 10:30am-2:30pm or 4pm-7pm.
