The main purpose of a Radiologic Technologist WEP is to produce the best quality radiographs on a patient of any age, in a very caring and timely manner and covering weekends as described in this job description.
- Works every weekend to include Friday 1130 to 2000 and Saturday and Sunday from 0700 to 1930
- Will take call on Saturday and Sunday from 1930 to 0700
- Performs CT scanning independently.
- Performs venipuncture for CT procedures independently and safely operates a power injector for CT procedures.
- Performs radiologic procedures independently.
- Operates DR for processing x-ray images independently
- Operates all radiation emitting x-ray equipment independently (general rad room, portable x-ray machine, digital fluoroscopy room, mobile C-Arm) utilizing appropriate technique factors based on the patient’s age, size, and body habitus.
- Operates independently in a sterile surgical environment utilizing the mobile C-Arm and/or portable x-ray machine.
- Completes all required competencies in the time allowed.
- Answers telephone calls and utilizes the phone system and all computer and software systems proficiently.
- Always follows the necessary patient identification procedures to ensure the “correct patient, correct procedure, correct date” is ensured.
- Follows all radiation protection procedures per policy.
- Must be able to communicate to patients in written and verbal form in order to properly explain procedures as well as gather pertinent information prior to performing certain procedures.
- Supervises radiography students in the performance of departmental functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Wage commensurate with experience.
Shifts would range, Friday 700-1530, Saturday & Sunday 700-1930 with call.
Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an Accredited Radiography Program (JRCERT or equivalent)
- Current Iowa Permit to Practice Radiography
- Current ARRT registration in Radiography
- Current BLS certification
- Experienced in CT operations
Must be able to meet the physical requirements as outlined in the Job Requirements document.
